Exchange Hosting Protocols

Exchange Access Protocols
Hosted Exchange supports many protocols that will allow you to connect to the Exchange server to access your information. Certain connections provide access to more information than others, but all of the connections provide access to your email information.

MAPI
Messaging Application Programming Interface is the traditional connection used to interface with the Microsoft Exchange server and was designed by Microsoft. It allows the Exchange server to directly communicate with the email client, so that all of your information is updated in real time. This is the recommended connection to use when setting up your email client.

RPC over HTTPS
This is a special function that allows for secured access when connected to the Microsoft Exchange server.

At Corporate Pages, our goal is to take storage out of the equation—and that's why we offer users 2GB mailboxes to start. No longer will your users have to worry each day about cleaning out and archiving their mailboxes to prevent running out of storage space. With 2GB of data storage space, your users can keep all of their emails, calendar items, contacts, tasks, and notes in their account without having to worry about deleting them. This helps users to create an effective archive of work activity and provides an excellent way to manage and retrieve information about past projects, decisions, and conversations.

Of course we also offer the ability to purchase additional storage space and allocate it to any user mailbox. Any mailbox can grow up to 10GB in size, but we recommend no more than 5GB per Exchange mailbox for maximum performance.

We want to be sure that you aren't limited by file size limitations when they're sending an attachment. That's why we are supporting up to 50MB attachments per incoming or outgoing email. This helps to ensure that users can send and receive important attachments without concern for file size limitations.

We estimate that over 95% of all email traffic on the Internet is spam.

Solving the Spam Problem for You

In order to win the war against spam, we must evolve our spam defenses faster than spammers evolve their tactics. We run on a state-of-the-art email exchange hosting with numerous levels of anti-spam protection.

Our virus protection scans all inbound and outbound emails using a multi-stage process. The process is broken down into the following four stages:

  • Stage 1: Restricted Attachments

Here, emails are scanned for dangerous types of file attachments. When an email is sent or received that contains a restricted file attachment, the email is rejected and the sender receives a "bounced" email notification informing them of the restriction.

  • Stage 2: Normalization

This stage searches for email formatting vulnerabilities that can be used by viruses to hide from virus scanners. If any vulnerability is found, our system corrects the formatting of the message so that it can be thoroughly scanned for viruses.

  • Stage 3: Decompression

Next, if the email contains any compressed attachments such as zip files, the compressed attachments are temporarily unzipped so that the contents can be scanned for viruses.

  • Stage 4: Virus Scan

After the above preprocessing is complete, a virus scanner is used to scan the email and all of its uncompressed attachments. Everything is scanned to ensure maximum protection against new virus threats. We use ClamAv to scan for virus and out virus database is updated frequently.
